
Todd Buchanan has been on the track for the better part of 30 years and always finds the front of the pack. Piloting the signature orange #5, Buchanan won the 2024 Outlaw 350 Supermodified Sprint Series Championship.

How did you get involved in racing?
My father (Junior Buchanan) was a long time employee at Sandusky Speedway so I grew up at a race track. Never a doubt I would one day be a racer .
How long have you been racing? Why did you choose the number you race?
29 years of racing, I started in the Pure Stock division then ran Sprint Cars and Supermodifieds . I choose the number 5 because I liked Bentley Warren and his charisma.
What’s your favorite race track you’ve raced on?
Sandusky Speedway for sure!

What kind of hobbies outside of the racecar do you have?
I like to golf, it’s a challenge to do well .
Do you have a workout plan that you follow to keep yourself in top shape for race day?
I usually walk at our local state park.
Did you have any racing heroes growing up?
John Logan , Bentley Warren, Jim Sexton

What’s your favorite racing memory?
Winning 3 straight Hy Miler races in the sprint car 2003,2004,2005
Do you have any racers that you are close friends with?
I would consider just about everyone I race with a friend.
What is your greatest accomplishment in racing?
3 Sprint Car track championships and recently an Outlaw 350 Supermodified series championship, having a positive impact on young kids and people who enjoy racing.

Do you have any raceday rituals or superstitions?
Not really, I just try to stick with a plan and stay focused.
What are your plans for 2025?
We are currently building a different supermodified for 2025 that will hopefully allow us the opportunity to compete at Oswego.
Do you have a regular job, and if so what do you do?
I am a tool and die machinist, 25 years in the trade .
