Mike Oldenburgh has been around local racing for the past couple years. Competing in the National Compact Touring Series along with racing at Painesville Speedway, Lorain Raceway Park and Sandusky Speedway, and he’s only 17 years old.
How did you get involved in racing?
My dad raced when i was a kid and i always wanted to do it

How long have you been racing? Why did you choose the number you race?
5 years going into 6. I ran 77 because it was my dads number, I ran 5 in 2023 at Freedom Factory because that’s the number that the team I raced for put on the car so when I went back to Painesville this year I bought a car with the number 5 and left it like that. I’m also a huge Kyle Larson fan
What’s your favorite race track you’ve raced on?
It’s between Berlin and Toledo
What kind of hobbies outside of the racecar do you have?
I really like going fishing it’s something my grandpa was huge into and it’s just something I find peaceful. I also like playing video games in my free time

What’s your favorite racing memory…
It was probably my first touring win we drove 5 hours to Berlin in Michigan was finishing my car in the parking lot went out for the first set of hot laps and was 7th out of like 40 skipped the 2nd set of hotlaps to fix some issues on the car and didn’t realize there was no qualifying it was together with hot laps but got the invert perfectly started poll all night got 2nd in the heat by a bumper than win the feature
What is your greatest accomplishment in racing?
That’s a hard one to pick. I’ve been in the top 5 every year in point if not top 10 feature win at multiple tracks but I’d have to say 4th place in the touring series my rookie year means a lot to me.

What are your plans for 2025?
Hopefully I’ll have my new car done for 25 the plan is to run Warriors, compact 8, a few Charger races if possible, and some outlaw shows plus all the Cavalcades. My girlfriend will be driving the #5 car that I drove last year in the Rising Stars division for her rookie year.
Anyone you want to thank for getting you here?
A lot! My Mom & Dad and my grandma for always making everything happen and all of the people who always help when I need something.

I’m super close friends with Vinny Cicconetti we have been best friends for years and my sister’s boyfriend Chris Leland.

Probably the Warriors/Compact Figure 8 car
