(SANDUSKY, OH, May 31, 2025) – Sandusky Speedway hosted the season opener for the 350 Outlaw Supermodified Sprint Series Saturday night and when the dust settled, Danny Shirey sat in victory lane in his new #27 car. Shirey, a long time supermodified competitor in the big blocks, also set a track record on the night at 16.293 seconds. Will Yuravak made it two in a row in the Grand National division winning the 25 lap “Laps for Luke presented by Mickey Mart” event, with Dylan Napier taking the checkered flag in the Ohio Pro Compact division. Tim Jayes and Jeff Smith Jr also collected wins on the evening in the Factory Stock and Warrior divisions respectively.

The 350 Outlaw Supermodified feature had Hall of Famers Denny Fisher and Kenny Sharp lead the field to green with Sharp taking the early lead. Sharp led the first six laps until he broke out of his qualifying time relinquishing the lead to Sawyer Stout until the next restart on lap thirteen, when Danny Shirey, the new track record holder from the afternoon qualifying session took the lead and led the rest of the way, slowed by a refuel red for Todd Buchanan wrecking on the back straightaway. However, Shirey would not be denied as he won over Stout, AJ Lesiecki, Tyler Capodice, and Clayton Karl. Fisher, Brian Neubauer, Hunter Young, Frank Neill, and Rich Dewitt Jr rounded out the finishing order.

The Ohio Pro Compact feature started the evening with Gage Sauer and Kyle Ramsey leading the field to the green, with Jaden McCall taking the initial lead for the first five laps until Clay Lusk in his new #88 motored to the lead for a short time but the story of the race was Dylan Napier. Coming from the seventh position, Napier got to the lead on lap eleven and never looked back in a caution free affair, winning over Lusk, Erik Johnson, Anthony Vilachek and Jaden McCall.

Laps for Luke presented by Mickey Mart was the next feature with David Nester and Brenton Beall leading the field to green for the 25 lap race. Chase Wiggins shot to an early lead with Beall holding off perennial stock car aces Dan Smith and Will Yuravak, but Yuravak got to second in the mid stages of the race and on the lap 19 restart, he would motor past Wiggins on the outside to win over Wiggins, Smith, Beall, and Jarred McCullough.

The Factory Stock feature was a father son affair as son Elliot and father Tim Jayes led the field to green with Elliot leading the first five laps and Tim leading the final five with Tim winning over Elliot. The Warrior division saw Dan Kyea and Annaleigh Martin lead the field to green with Annaleigh leading the first three laps until eventual winner Jeff Smith Jr, got by in turn 3 on lap 4 and went on to win over Martin, Ben Ziemba, and Kyea.

The Sandusky Speedway’s next event on the famous half-mile will be Ben Rhodes night, with two-time NASCAR Truck Series champion Ben Rhodes competing on June 14th! Modifieds, Pro Compacts,Grand Nationals, Warriors and Factory Stocks will be in attendance.
