Earlier this week a group interested in leasing Norton Raceway Park, formerly Barberton Speedway, was declined placing the immediate future of the ¼ mile oval in doubt.
Mulch Makers Ohio, Inc., which acquired the race track property in December, appears to be more interested in expanding its current facility rather than operating a race track.

Speedway Action Magazine confirmed plans were in place for a group of local racers to lease the facility for the 2026 season. The group planned on running a weekly program featuring racing and other motorsports entertainment as part of a seasonal lease. Their proposal was denied following extensive negotiations with those involved with Mulch Makers Ohio, Inc.

It is unknown if any other proposals to lease the facility have been heard or if any other groups will submit offers to purchase or lease the track.
The asking price for the track property is rumored to be over $1.7 Million. The track was purchased for $510,000 on December 15, 2025 from Raceway Operations, LLC.
Update: The Norton Raceway Park Facebook page released the following statement on January 22nd, 2026 at 9:15PM:
To all those that have all the answers.
We were continually losing money at an unsustainable rate. We made it known the facility was for sale. There were a couple interested parties and those deals fell through. We sold the property and there was a verbal agreement the track could be be leased, those lease terms were unobtainable and therefore we are where we at. We will post all information as soon as possible
This is a developing story and we will update as more details become known.
