(Sandusky Ohio, May 24 2025)- This past Saturday Sandusky Speedway hosted the first Ohio Wheelman Series Super Stock race for the speedway’s 2025 season. Longtime street stock competitor Josh Way of Painesville Ohio led the last thirty circuits to win the 40 lap event. Will Yuravak lost an axle in the Grand National heat race and came back to win the 25 lap affair, narrowly edging out Trent Aslaksen at the line. Brandon Weigel won the Ohio Pro Compact 25 lap race in a thrilling side by side battle all race long with Dylan Napier, while Roy Lowe won the Factory Stock event. Dan Scott took the win in the Warrior division.

The Ohio Pro Compact division was first with their twenty-five lap feature event. Kyle Ramsey and Melvin Martin led the field to the green flag but Elyria’s Jaden McCall took the lead in the opening laps. Meanwhile, Brandon Weigel and Dylan Napier diced through the field, eventually taking over the top two spots on lap 8. The following seventeen circuits were some of the most electrifying laps of compact competition contested at the half-mile in memory, with the two swapping the lead, racing side-by-side, and never touching, but Weigel edged out Napier at the line over long time late model standout Doug Sommers, Clay Lusk, and Zach Myers.

Roy Lowe won the Factory Stock feature by a very narrow margin over Jesse Houghton Jr. This made a good introduction to the main event of the night, the stars and cars of the Ohio Wheelman Series Super Stocks. Ed Poderzay and Mike Henderson led the field to the green flag in the 40 lap grind, with Poderzay leading the first 12 laps. On the lap 12 restart, Josh Way took over the top spot, and although Joe Coursen in the Fox car came close a few times, Way would win over Coursen, Josh Poore, Earl Goldy, and Jeff Kuykendall.

The nightcap was the twenty-five lap Grand National feature with Chase Wiggins and David Nester leading the field to the start. Trent Aslaksen quickly took the lead on lap 4 but Will Yuravak was the story of the night, quickly moving up from the back of the field after having to borrow an axle from Bullet Recovery’s Jerry Smith to even compete in the event. A lap eighteen restart would give Yuravak his chance to pounce, taking the lead in turn two and motoring away to victory over Aslaksen, Brenton Beall, Dan Smith, and Scott McAbier.
The Sandusky Speedway will be in action again this Saturday May 24th with the 350 Outlaw SuperModified Sprint Series headlining with Grand Nationals, Ohio Pro Compacts, Warriors and Factory Stocks also in attendance. For more information, visit www.sanduskyspeedway.com or visit us on Facebook!
