Lorain Ohio Kartplex Begins Paving

Things are beginning to take shape at the Lorain Ohio Kartplex (LOK) located in Lorain, Ohio as asphalt has been laid down and the track is taking shape. While the project stalled since its initial announcement in late 2021, work began in June and the asphalt was laid last week. The facility is expected to open in May 2025.

Cromwell Park, where the track is being built was not a city park but rather a former landfill site that required developers to seek approval from the Ohio EPA and Army Corps of Engineers and complete several environmental studies to be built on. The asphalt will serve as an additional cap on the land, a requirement for building on a former landfill.

Phase I of the $12 Million project includes a .82 mile competition track along with a .43 mile track for rental karts and a .3 mile indoor track for electric karts. An esports arena with a focus on motorsport simulators, a restaurant and brewery, an event center, a radio-controlled track, an on-site storage facility, a motorsports retail store and a lounge and fitness center are also planned for Phase I. The competition track will be Federation Internationale de l’Automobile certified.
