We now know who purchased Sandusky Speedway at auction last month. The buyer is local businessman and NASCAR team owner Duke Thorson along with his wife Rhonda.
Hoty Enterprises, Inc. is pleased to announce the sale of the 31-acre Sandusky Speedway property to JDI Properties Holdings, LLC, part of the ThorSport Inc. family of companies led by longtime local business owners Rhonda and Duke Thorson.
The transaction marks a new chapter for the former legacy motorsports venue. While future plans for the site have not been announced, the new ownership brings deep regional ties and a long-term commitment to thoughtful stewardship.
Plans for the future remain unclear as the posting from Real Estate Agent Ronda Jedrezjek does not provide clear plans moving forward for the historic half-mile.

NASCAR rules prohibit teams from testing at any race track (sanctioned or not), so the track would not be able to be used by Thorson’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team, ThorSport Racing.

Regardless of the future, a big thank you is owed to Kevin Jaycox and his family for their stewardship of the track for the past 24 years.
