Hangover Race Tradition Lives on Virtually

Fischbach, Bogusz, Jaycox & Myers take victories in Online Hangover Race

January 1st came and no word on future plans at Sandusky Speedway have been announced. Traditionally the annual Hangover Race would be held at the track on New Year’s Day but not this year. Instead of layering up and heading out to the Sandusky Speedway, drivers sat at their desks and raced virtually at Oswego Speedway for the Inaugural Online Hangover Race hosted by the Northern Ohio Sim Racing Association (NOSRA).

A unique multi-class line up of SK Modifieds, Late Model Stock Cars, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks hit the track for 75 laps of competition at the 5/8 mile “sister track to Sandusky”.

Jesse Fischbach, a regular with the Ohio Wheelman Series and Great Lakes Truck Tour scored the overall win and the victory in the Champagne Stock class, which ran the SK Modifieds.

Must See Racing Lights racer Andrew Bogusz scored the win in the Whisky Stocks, which featured the Late Model Stock Cars.

Former Sandusky Speedway owner and Sandusky regular Kevin Jaycox, Jr. scored the Beer Stock Win, a division that featured the Street Stocks.

Painesville Speedway’s new Race Director, Kevin Myers, scored the Moonshine Stock class victory, which featured the Mini Stocks.

The action was intense with Alex Coursen leading the field to the green flag before being collected in an incident with a slower car in the final third of the race. Jesse Fischbach battled on the outside groove to take the lead with one lap to go and score the victory in a near-photo finish for the overall victory.

The NOSRA Winter Heat Series continues this week with the Chargers (Mini Stocks) and Grand Nationals (Street Stocks) taking on Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in the fourth round of the championship. Andrew Bogusz holds a 27 point lead over Mark Lushes in the championship hunt. Bogusz also leads the Grand Nationals Championship with Randy Hedrick just three points out of the lead.
