Five years after purchasing the former Lorain County Speedway, the Maggio family is set to offer the track up for sale or lease for the 2026 season. The move comes after track promoter Randy Maggio, Jr. issued a statement late last year calling the 2025 season “a make or break year” for the track. While Maggio, Jr. has his hands full with promoting both Lorain Raceway Park and Painesville Speedway, the family also took on the former CRS Truck Series in early April.

With a schedule of just 15 race dates at the 3/8 mile oval, Lorain Raceway Park has struggled to build momentum this season, seeing weather-related cancellations twice already in 2025. The lack of weekly racing at the facility can turn one rain out into a month of the track sitting dormant.

While speculation and rumors have already begun to swirl about the remaining events on the 2025 schedule, which includes the Trident Stock Car Nationals August 15th and 16th, Hall of Fame + Cancer Awareness Night August 30th and the Fall Festival of Speed September 13th and 14th, nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
This is a breaking story and we will update with more details as they become available.
