Spending a Sunday afternoon at the racetrack is always a great way to kick off the racing season and that’s just what we did today with the Outlaw 350 Supermodified Sprint Series taking to Lorain Raceway Park. A dozen cars were in attendance for the “Open Test”.
With an uncertain future, the open test is currently the only event scheduled for the 3/8 mile in 2026. Rumors of a possible sale and/or a possible partial schedule are floating around, but currently, nothing official has been confirmed.

Defending Champion Danny Shirey took to the track for only a few laps before parking the #27 Papuga Motorsports machine. He seemed happy with the car.

The Stout family is fielding three entries for 2026 with two Sawyer Stout Racing machines, the #40 for Sawyer Stout and the #46 for JJ Henes and Sam Stout Racing fielding the #49 for Sam Stout. Sawyer looked fast today while Henes seems to be adapting well to the supermodified. Sam came out of the box and looked fast in the #9 as well.

Neubauer Family Racing will once again field two entries for 2026, but for the first time in the team’s history the cars will be piloted by two hired guns. Cody Gallogly returns to the #57, which is without a primary sponsor as the season opens. Meanwhile, the #7 entry will be driven by former Must See Racing Midwest Lights racer Keegan Weese, who at just 15 years old is the youngest driver in the field. Neither car was wrapped for the season but Bob Neubauer confirmed that they will be looking good for Toledo next week.

Rich Dewitt, Jr. returns for his second season in the #16. Dewitt looked fast today as he has a full season of experience to draw from behind the wheel.

Tyler Capodice had the #09 on track, the day started with the car suffering from a bad push and ended with the car looking to be very competitive.

The Neill Racing team returns with Frank Neill in the #88, a ride he has occupied since the formation of the Outlaw 350 Supermodified Sprint Series and Hunter Young, who returns for a second season in the #1 car. Both looked very fast today.

Todd Buchanan had the #5 car on track, picking up right where he left off, the #5 looked competitively fast and to be handling quite well.

Rookie Ayden Thacker has the blank #44 on track as he turned his first laps in his own car, after turning a handful of laps in the Evans #38 car at the tail end of 2025. Thacker started out slower, and worked his way up to faster lap times as the afternoon session came to a close. The former Quarter Midget racer looked comfortable in his first foray into full size cars.

Kenny Sharp was spotted in the pit area with his family, the #11 was not in attendance today. The team’s second entry, the #07 for Joey Wyckoff discovered an engine issue prior to heading to the track and stayed home as well.

The Outlaw 350 Supermodified Sprint Series will kick off the 2026 season Saturday, April 18th at Toledo Speedway. Racing is set to begin at 3:00PM with a Driver Autograph Session at 1:30PM. The Turn One CRA Pro Series, Toledo Factory Stocks and Late Model Sportsman will be competing as well.
