Excitement Builds for Turkey Leg 150 This Saturday

The green flag was supposed to drop two weeks ago but the event was postponed by a major snowstorm that dumped feet of snow on The Painesville Speedway. The action returns to the track this Saturday, December 14th, as the .20 mile track is set for 70+ cars to take on “The Battleground”.

The track will feature the front stretch chicane (using a portion of the figure 8 course). Adding to the challenge is a weather forecast that features snow again. This time, the snow should be a manageable few inches.

This year’s Turkey Leg 150 will pay tribute to Zac Brunkala, who passed away in October after a highway accident. Brunkala, no stranger to the Turkey Leg, was a regular competitor at Painesville Speedway.

What to expect?

With 70+ cars on the track, the name of the game will be staying out of trouble and keeping the nose clean. Avoiding crashes won’t be the only element to avoid, drivers will also need to avoid the debris that comes off the cars and keeping the tires on the car.

The track should at the very least be wet during the race if not covered in snow. With temperatures forecasted to be just above freezing at the start time of 1PM, moisture could freeze creating slick conditions later in the race.

The Painesville Speedway will have a great selection of food and drinks on hand in The Painesville Speedway Concession Stand.

Bring the family, grab a blanket, and dress warm, this is one event you won’t want to miss! Adult Grandstand Admission is $12, Seniors (65+) $8, Kids 15 & Under are always free at The Painesville Speedway. It’s sure to be a “bumper draggin’ good time”

Josh Way picked up the Turkey Leg 150 victory in 2023 in a car he prepared overnight leading into the event.
