Tim Jayes is a name you might not recognize yet but you will soon enough. Tim pilots the #80 Ace Racing League car at area race tracks, including his home track of Norton Raceway Park. Tim got his first Feature Win of his career on May 31st at Sandusky Speedway.

How did you get involved in racing?
I have always wanted to go racing since moving to Ohio. Built a compact for Mansfield Speedway the year it closed. Was in the process of building a Dirt truck for Attica/Fremont but 2008 happened. On my birthday the past couple years we would fly out Vegas and drive used GTP cars at LVMS. Finally I was in a position to get into it here and here we are.
How long have you been racing? Why did you choose the number you race?
This is my Second full year of racing. The #80 has always been my number in sports in High School. Been lucky my whole life.
What’s your favorite race track you’ve raced on?
I would have to say Norton is my favorite track. Being that it is less than a mile from my house makes it convenient.

What kind of hobbies outside of the racecar do you have?
I like to Golf and hang out with family and friends. My favorite thing is introducing and helping others enter the sport.
Do you have a workout plan that you follow to keep yourself in top shape for race day?
Just stay hydrated and be ready for heat inside the car. It can take a lot out of you on hot summer days.
What’s your favorite racing memory?
Has to be my first race. It happened to be at Painesville and I had no idea what I was doing. Thankfully most people in our sport are helpful and willing to show you the ropes.

Do you have any racers that you are close friends with?
Plenty! Jon Quinn, Kevin Broski and Jay Teague for their ongoing support. I tend to ask a lot of questions which they never fail to answer no matter how dumb. I can not say enough about the support of my wife that lets me come out and do dumb stuff every week.
Do you have any raceday rituals or superstitions?
I like to get into the car early and run through belts and car set up. When I am rushed I tend to miss a step. Once ran a race with parking break on, fans off, no fuel. Stuff like that. Lol
What are your plans for 2025?
Stay competitive at NRP in the ACE division and win a feature as a driver. As a team owner I would like to get all four cars into the top five in points come year end. We will see.

Anyone you want to thank for getting you here?
Just the support of Family, Friends and Teammates.
Do you have a regular job, and if so what do you do?
I am a business owner. I have four companies that I run administratively in the medical field. I also run payroll and HR services for a couple others companies.
What is your favorite type of racecar you’ve ever driven?
I have only competitively driven the ACE mustangs which are a really great car to drive.
