Painesville Speedway Enters Exciting New Era Under Skufca Family Leadership for 2026–2028
Scott Skufca and Family Take the Wheel, Launch “Save the Track” Campaign to Return the Legendary 1/5-Mile to Its Glory Days
Painesville, OH – November 12, 2025 –

Painesville Speedway, known worldwide as “The World’s Toughest Motorsports Battleground,” proudly announces that Scott Skufca and the Skufca family have signed a multi-year lease-option to manage and operate the historic 1/5-mile oval beginning with the 2026 season through 2028.
Scott Skufca has been racing at Painesville Speedway for 40 years and is a three-time NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track champion. A familiar face in victory lane and a lifelong ambassador for the speedway, Scott is stepping up with his family to bring the track back to the glory days fans still talk about under legendary promoter Gordon Allen—when packed grandstands, wall-to-wall racing, and community pride made Painesville the heartbeat of Northeast Ohio short-track action.

“This place raised me, and now my family and I are all-in to raise it back up,” said Scott Skufca. “We’re bringing the energy, the upgrades, and the passion this track deserves. This Saturday November 15th at 2:00 P.M we’re hosting a preliminary track meeting open to all drivers, crews, and fans, with full division meetings to follow in the coming weeks. Meeting will be held near the pit garage. We’re building the 2026 schedule, improving the facility, and launching our ‘Save the Track’ initiative so Lake County never loses the roar of short-track racing.”
The outgoing Maggio family, who have proudly operated the speedway since September 2017, personally selected the Skufcas to carry the legacy forward. “We’ve poured our hearts into this place, but it’s time for fresh vision with a true Painesville legend at the helm. We appreciate everybody’s support over the past nine years of our management, whether we agreed or disagreed on topics, you all have been an immense part of our lives and that will never be forgotten,” said the Maggio family. “Scott and his family will honor our traditions while restoring the excitement and family atmosphere that made this track famous. They are exactly who this speedway needs.”

The Skufca management team’s “Save the Track” campaign kicks off immediately—focused on new sponsorships, community partnerships, facility improvements, and fan-first programs designed to pack the stands and secure the future of local racing in Lake County for generations.
Both families will share the official Painesville Speedway Facebook page over the coming weeks as the Maggios prepare their final event and the Skufcas unveil the 2026 schedule, rule updates, and revival plans.
Join us trackside for the Maggio family’s grand finale: the fan-favorite Turkey Leg 150 on Saturday, November 29, 2025. Come celebrate the past, honor the present, and welcome the Skufca family as they fire the engines on Painesville Speedway’s return to glory.

More details on the 2026 season and “Save the Track” initiatives coming soon from Skufca Management.
