The crisp September air is about to get a heavy dose of high-octane adrenaline as the 3/8-mile asphalt oval of Lorain Raceway Park prepares to double down on one of the most highly anticipated weekends in Ohio short-track racing. On September 25th and 26th, the South Amherst speedway goes all-in, hosting a blockbuster event that combines two of its marquee races into one massive, high-stakes showdown: the Jackpot Modified Nationals and the Trident Street Stock Nationals.
For fans of pure, grassroots stock car racing, this combined weekend represents the ultimate payout. Lorain Raceway Park’s sweeping 12-degree banked turns have tested the mettle of drivers since the track was paved in 1960, and putting both of these prestigious events on the same ticket guarantees spectacular, door-to-door battles where every driver is looking to hit the jackpot.
While the track has not released full event information, a recent post on the Lorain Raceway Park Facebook page announced the division line-up and called the event a “One Day Event that’s ACTION PACKED!”

With the shakeup of Cavalcade schedules after Sandusky Speedway and Norton Raceway Park closed over the offseason, late September weekends are wide open for racers and fans across the region. That means there is no reason why the pits won’t be filled and the grandstands packed with race fans from across the region. That is great scheduling by the Lorain Raceway Park team!
The action kicks off on Friday, September 25th, with a dedicated Practice Day. Fans can head to the grandstands early to catch teams laying their cards on the table, shaking down their cars, and hunting for every fraction of a second on the stopwatch. Friday is all about preparation, giving crews the vital track time needed to perfectly dial in their setups for the abrasive asphalt before the pressure of race day sets in.
When the sun goes down on Saturday, September 26th, the chips are pushed to the center of the table and the real thunder begins. The Saturday night showcase is an absolute gauntlet of speed featuring six distinct, thrill-a-minute divisions.
Headlining the night are the Modifieds battling for the Jackpot Nationals crown, bringing their wide tires, open wheels, and raw horsepower to the forefront. Sharing the spotlight are the Street Stocks, throwing down for the Trident Nationals title. Known for their heavy, full-bodied cars and aggressive, paint-trading style, the Street Stock division guarantees fireworks as drivers muscle their way to the front of the pack. Troy Phillips looks to win his fourth consecutive Trident Stock Car Nationals.
But the heavy hitters won’t be the only ones cashing in on the action.
