(Sandusky Ohio, May 18 2025)- Saturday May 17, Sandusky Speedway hosted four classes for the annual Twin State Auto Racing Club night. Dan Smith took a thrilling victory in the Grand National division while Ben Watson made his return to the ½ mile asphalt and claimed Ohio Pro Compact division honors. Roy Lowe held onto a narrow victory in Factory stock competition while Jeff Smith Jr claimed his maiden victory of the season in the warrior division.

The Warrior division feature was up first with Smith and last week’s winner James Morrison qualifying .011 seconds apart, putting them neck and neck for the feature start. This trend would continue the entirety of the fifteen lap affair with Smith narrowly edging Morrison and Dan Scott. Morrison would eventually be disqualified in post race technical inspection for a motor violation, yielding second place to Scott.

The Ohio Pro Compact division was next with their twenty-five lap feature event. Clay Lusk and Kyle Ramsey led the field to green, but Wellington’s Ben Watson made quick work of the field moving up to the lead from the sixth position by lap 2. Madison’s Brandon Weigel moved into second behind Watson with longtime FWD competitor Dylan Napier finishing out the top three. Watson would hang out to win in a caution free affair over Weigel, Napier, Jason Stanfield and Clay Lusk. Melvin Martin initially finished in the fourth position but received a disqualification for weight.

The Grand National division came out on the speedway next, also for twenty-five circuits. Longtime Sandusky Speedway competitor Dan Smith started alongside Brenton Beall for the start. Smith would lead the entire way in a race marred by several cautions throughout the running order, challenged by Rich Dewitt Jr throughout the grind, but Smith would hold on to a half straightaway lead to win over DeWitt, Chase Wiggins, David Nester and Brenton Beall

Roy Lowe won the Factory Stock feature by a very narrow margin over Tim Jayes as Jayes caught Lowe in lap traffic with five to go. Lowe had to drive a masterclass in hitting his marks to win over Tim Jayes and Veronica Jayes.
The Sandusky Speedway will be in action again this Saturday May 24th with the Ohio Wheelman Series headlining with Grand Nationals, Ohio Pro Compacts, Warriors and Factory Stocks also in attendance. For more information, visit www.sanduskyspeedway.com or visit us on Facebook!
