Lorain Raceway Park Hall of Fame Announces 2026 Inductees

The Lorain Raceway Park Hall of Fame is excited to announce the Class of 2026 Hall of Fame inductees.  Representing on track success and off track contributions to Lorain Raceway Park, the 2026 inductees are the most diverse class to be added to the Hall of Fame. 

With the Revival underway at Lorain Raceway Park, the Class of 2026 will be inducted later this season, at the track.  

D.D. Hall

“D.D.” Hall was an owner-driver who made a massive impact on the local racing scene in a remarkably short amount of time. Fielding his own cars, Hall pulled off an incredible feat by securing the Track Championship at both Lorain County Speedway and Sandusky Speedway for three consecutive years from 1981 to 1983. In 1981, his breakout season, he was honored with both the “Rookie of the Year” and “Sportsman of the Year” awards. Outside of the cockpit, he was the long-time owner and operator of D.D. Hall Electrical Contractor in Lorain before passing away in 2005.

Dave Ennes

Dave Ennes is a vital behind-the-scenes supporter of the speedway, primarily through his leadership at Elyria-based Perfection Fabricators. Ennes and his company have served as premier partners of the track since the Maggio family assumed ownership in 2020. By acting as the title sponsor for the Grand National division and backing major events like the Jackpot Nationals, Ennes has been instrumental in ensuring the track’s financial stability and its continued operation as a regional hub for short-track racing.  Ennes also enjoyed on-track success, winning the 1984 Street Stock Championship at Lorain.  Today, Ennes remains active in the sport with his orange push Jeep.

​Doug Saunier

A talented supermodified driver hailing from Navarre, Ohio, Doug Saunier etched his name into Lorain County Speedway history during the 1980s. He is best remembered for capturing a hard-fought victory in the 100-lap International SuperModified Association (ISMA) event on September 15, 1984. Navigating a wet weekend and a stacked 24-car field, Saunier bested legendary driver Todd Gibson by several car lengths to take the checkered flag in his #22 machine.

​Ernie Ensign

An esteemed car owner, head mechanic, and Elyria Sports Hall of Fame inductee, Ernie Ensign was a foundational figure in local open-wheel racing. Ensign fielded highly competitive supermodifieds and sprint cars that became fixtures at Lorain. Legendary driver Bob Frey achieved significant early-career success wheeling Ensign’s #37 car around Lorain and Sandusky before moving on to national prominence. Ensign’s mechanical expertise made his team a powerhouse in the 1970s, even contributing to a National Sprint Car title in 1975.

​Gary Albritain

Gary Albritain was a notable fixture in the Supermodified ranks at both Lorain County Speedway and Sandusky Speedway throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Competing during an era of significant mechanical innovation, Albritain was known for wheeling rear-engine Supermodifieds, famously battling side-by-side with other regional open-wheel standouts like Bob Stelter. His presence in the Supermod division added to the deep talent pool that defined Lorain’s open-wheel racing during that era.

Jim Foose, Sr.

Jim Foose, Sr. has been a pivotal force in preserving and promoting Lorain Raceway Park’s history through a camera lens. His major contributions are rooted deeply in the media side of motorsports, where he spent time as a dedicated videographer for Trackside Video and Speedway Action Images. His keen eye for the action yielded one of the most famous pieces of footage in the track’s history: in 1998, Foose captured Dino Long’s spectacular, wild flip. That incredible shot catapulted Lorain County Speedway onto television screens both nationally and internationally. Today, his dedication to the sport continues as he captures short-track racing across the region for Speedway Action Images.

​Kent Stauffer

Hailing from Elyria (and later LaGrange), Kent Stauffer used local tracks like Lorain and Sharon Speedway as a springboard to national short-track prominence. A standout Late Model competitor, Stauffer graduated from the local ranks to become a regular contender on the highly competitive American Speed Association (ASA) National Tour during the late 1980s and 1990s. Stauffer routinely battled door-to-door with legendary short-track aces like Bob Senneker, Mike Eddy, Dick Trickle, and Butch Miller in grueling 400-lap events, bringing national racing prestige back to his Lorain County roots.

​Nancy & Ron Henes

The Henes family represents a multi-generational legacy in Ohio open-wheel racing. Ron Henes was a steadfast competitor in the supermodified ranks, most notably battling against national talent during the heavy-hitting ISMA tours at Lorain County Speedway in the 1980s. Nancy served as the matriarch of this racing family; her impact on the community is still honored today through the Nancy Henes Memorial race, an event poignantly won by their grandson, third-generation driver JJ Henes, for his first Midwest Supermodified Series feature victory.

​Phil Rozum

Hailing from Cleveland, Phil Rozum was a dominant force in the paved Late Model division during the 1990s and early 2000s.  Rozum won multiple championships in the Sport Stock and Late Model classes dating back to the 1980s at Cloverleaf and Lorain.  Known for his consistency and racecraft on Lorain’s tricky “egg-shaped” 3/8-mile oval, Rozum secured back-to-back Late Model track championships in 2002 and 2003. His accomplishments highlight a highly competitive era of fendered racing at the facility just before it underwent various operational and ownership shifts later in the decade.

​Ron Neal

Active during a golden era of open-wheel experimentation, Ron Neal earned his reputation as both a skilled supermodified racer and a mechanical innovator at Lorain and across the regional circuit. Competing during the 1970s—a time when short-track racing was defined by radical, custom-built creations—Neal was known for fielding distinct and unusual designs, including his memorable #16 machine. His forward-thinking approach to chassis setup and engineering epitomized the spirit of backyard innovation that pushed the boundaries of supermodified performance on the high banks.

Henry Nosse – Russ Stoutenburgh Sportsmanship Award

A longtime car owner, with many track championships at Cloverleaf and Lorain Speedways, Nosse brought his business savvy and mechanical ingenuity to the sport.  Nosse fielded cars for his son Mike and daughter Sandy before fielding Bill Penn and Hall of Fame driver Russ Stoutenburgh in his #80 car.  Nosse didn’t only field cars, he supported several racers through sponsorship and even sponsored the track for many years through Nosse and Sons Construction. Henry will be receiving the Russ Stoutenburgh Sportsmanship Award for his contributions behind the scenes to Lorain Raceway Park. 

The Lorain Raceway Park Hall of Fame will celebrate these eleven inductees at the track later this year.
