October 16, 2026 – Millersville, Tennessee – Pavement Pounders announced their first of two weekends of 410-winged pavement sprint car racing in 2027. Pavement Pounders will promote the reintroduction of winged pavement sprint car racing at Veterans Motorplex at the Rim in Millersville, Tennessee June 4-5, 2027.
It will be the first time 410-winged pavement sprint cars have run at the racy high-banked quarter mile since August 6, 2021. But this will be the first time 410’s have raced at the track with unrestricted 410 power plants. Bobby Santos III won that last King of the Wing event over five years ago.

An open practice is scheduled for Friday June 4 in conjunction with a regular scheduled program of local racing classes. A complete racing program for the winged sprint cars will be on tap the following evening on Saturday June 5. The “Mid-South 60” will conclude the weekends racing action with a 60-lap feature event. It will be the longest winged sprint car race ever contested in the state of Tennessee.
It will be the final winged pavement sprint car event of the week in the area that already includes at stop by the Race for the Million series at the nearby Nashville Fairgrounds two nights earlier. Veterans Motorplex at the Rim is roughly thirty minutes north of the Nashville Fairgrounds.
A complete event information package and website for the race teams and fans will be announced in the coming weeks.

This will be an invitational event. Teams who would like to be considered for an invitation will be added to a list prior to the event. Registration details of this process will also be announced in the coming weeks. Once the event website is up-and-running, all information pertaining to this event will be made available there. Until then, Pavement Pounders https://facebook.com/PavementPoundrs/ will be the primary source for news and updates.
Veterans Motorplex at the Rim proved to be a very racy quarter mile for winged pavement sprint cars as evidence of that 2021 event. Bobby Santos III won a thriller over Jason Blonde that included sensational racing through heavy lapped traffic. Santos III came from the seventh starting position to take home the checkered flag. In victory lane he commented “It turned out to be really fun. It felt really racy. It wasn’t what I expected. We passed some cars and could really move round. It turned out to be a really fun racetrack.”

It’s unknown at this early time which teams from across the Country and Canada will be a part of the upcoming invitational process. Due to the expected abundance of cars in the area, there won’t be a shortage of available teams. It would be a safe bet that Santos III will be one of the first drivers offered an invitation since he is the defending race champion.
Teams will be looking to lower the all-time track record of California’s Eric Humphries 11.270 seconds set on August 6, 2021.
Stay tuned for additional updates regarding purse, event format, sanctioning body, and other event details in the coming days/weeks.
