The State of Ohio will have to wait a longer for the Super DirtCar Series to return to the Buckeye State after a pair of cancellations have wiped out what was a promising week of racing action. On Friday, Super DirtCar Series officials announced that Mansfield Speedway had canceled their event, set for Tuesday, August 11th citing “several hurdles” for the cancellation five days before the event. Monday brought an announcement that Sharon Speedway would also be cancelling their event, scheduled for Wednesday, August 12th after heavy rains the past three days and unfavorable weather models leading up to the event.

Mansfield Speedway officials encountered several hurdles preventing it from being able to welcome the Big Block Modifieds to the Series’ Ohio swing.
A large Saturday night concert at Mansfield Speedway introduced after the original race schedule was announced, combined with the county fair, has made running another event within that span an untenable option for the track. The race will not be made up.

With rain hammering Hartford, OH, for the past three days, and weather models showing it will continue during the week, Sharon Speedway and Super DIRTcar Series officials have agreed to cancel Wednesday’s Steel Valley 75. The decision to cancel is being made today in the best interests of the teams and fans who would be traveling long distances.
