Tyler Capodice shocked the Outlaw 350 Supermodified Sprint Series by winning the 2024 Finale at Sandusky Speedway in his second start ever in the series, the driver of the #09 is looking toward his first full season with the Outlaw 350’s in 2025. We caught up with Tyler to get to know him.

How did you get involved in racing?

My father. Phil Capodice

How long have you been racing?  Why did you choose the number you race?

This will be my first full season of racing. Originally was #9 because of Kasey Kahne when I raced karts, and had to change at an event because someone else reserved the #9. So went to #09 and just stuck with it.

What’s your favorite race track you’ve raced on?

New Castle, Indiana probably number one. Jacksonville, Florida, Daytona, Florida, Charlotte, NC, or Beaver Run Pennsylvania. Love all the road course stuff.

What kind of hobbies outside of the racecar do you have?

Hunting, going to the gym or really anything to do with firearms & horsepower.

Did you have any racing heroes growing up?

Kasey Kahne, Chris Perley, Moe Lilje, Mike Lichty, Mike McVetta

What’s your favorite racing memory?

Winning my first national event I ever raced in Karts @ Jacksonville Florida, racing the senior class when I was 15 years old @ King of the Castle in Newcastle Indiana, racing in the rain in karts was always a blast, racing karts with my brother growing up and traveling with my father & brother. Then winning my first small block super race second time ever racing a super, first time ever racing at Sandusky.

What is your greatest accomplishment in racing?

Winning the Sandusky Cavalcade second time ever in the seat of the small block. Anytime I ever won in Karts they were all very important & great accomplishments.

What are your plans for 2025?

Race a full schedule in the OSS series, make my father, brother, his wife & daughter proud along with the rest of my family & sponsors. Make the Barnes Family proud as well. Just learn as much as I can & race as much as I can.

Anyone you want to thank for getting you here?

My father, brother & his wife. Phil Capodice, Kyle Capodice & Kiley Burris Capodice, Scott Burris. Mother & Grandmother. Jarret Barnes, Jerry White, Coach Sam Springer, & Lee Harvey. Rob & Lynette, the Griffiths, Jack Smith, Steve Stout and his family, the Lesiecki’s & everyone that has played a part in this operation. Many people, too many to list but those are the main people I can think of.

Do you have a regular job, and if so what do you do?

Mechanic @ Barnes Nursery

What is your favorite type of racecar you’ve ever driven?

Supermodified

What are your long term goals in racing?

Race as much as I possibly can in any type of racing. Win a championship in the small block series is first priority, & would love to get in the seat of any other racecar. Set some type of record(s).
