MANSFIELD, OH — A new era of leadership is officially pulling into the pits at Mansfield Speedway. Today, track officials announced that highly respected motorsports executive and promoter Larry Boos has been named the full-time Race Director, bringing decades of invaluable dirt track and oval experience to the historic half-mile.
Boos steps into the role with a proven track record of elevating racing programs, executing massive events, and keeping drivers, teams, and fans energized.
A Storied Career in Short Track Racing

Larry Boos is a household name in the Midwest racing scene, carrying a resume that few in the industry can match. His deep understanding of race day operations and track promotion has been shaped by his extensive, hands-on leadership across several iconic venues:
- Eldora Speedway: Boos famously spent years at the legendary “Big E,” where his critical roles, including Director of Operations, helped maintain the track’s gold standard for major national dirt events under both Earl Baltes and Tony Stewart.
- The Rumble in Fort Wayne: As the driving force and promoter behind this beloved indoor winter midget racing spectacular, Boos has consistently delivered high-octane action, proving his ability to manage complex, multi-day, capacity-crowd events.
- Sandusky Speedway & Beyond: Boos’ deep roots trace through Sandusky Speedway, as well as recent promoter stints at Winchester Speedway, Montpelier Motor Speedway, and Gas City I-69 Speedway. Wherever he goes, structured racing and packed grandstands follow.
While Boos is proudly cut from the cloth of an old-school promoter, he is virtually ageless in how well he adapts to new technology and fresh ideas, ensuring that traditional racing values seamlessly blend with modern race-day execution.
Looking Ahead to a New Era at Mansfield

With Mansfield Speedway continuing its resurgence, bringing a veteran like Boos into the fold signals a massive commitment to the future of the facility. His appointment guarantees a steady hand in race control, efficient show pacing, and a fair, consistent voice for the drivers in the pits.
Fans and teams can look forward to seeing Boos at the helm immediately as preparations for the upcoming season kick into high gear.
